Wiicon > Wii Chip Production Increasing
[Revo-News] ATI has said that chip orders for for Nintendo’s Wii console have begun ramping up. ATI is the company responsible for the GPU (graphics processing unit) inside the Wii. Let’s hope this is an indication that the launch of the Wii is just around the corner. And, if Nintendo does launch in November, this gives them nearly four months to make enough Wii consoles to meet demand.

[Game Centro] Rumour: Wii to have Camera, PPU, headset and... : Rumour has it that the latest issue of Game Informer has some breaking news on the Wii. According to the report the Wii will have a built-in Camera for snapshots of the face (although it was reported earlier that you can draw), a PPU with 32MB dedicated for the physics processing unit (although disputable since ATi has always said their latest GPU’s can process physics unless Nintendo has designed it themselves), a headset will be available (which sort of takes down rumours of a built-in mic) and the Graphics on the machine will support HDR and Bump mapping (we know now that the ATI GPU is much more powerful then first thought but if this is true it’s always good).
